Judy Harvey CDA (Certified Decorative Artist) is originally from York, PA, but has traveled and lived in numerous locations, due to her husband’s military career, before moving to Ellijay in 2006. She has a degree in Art Education from Pennsylvania State University, is certified by the Society of Decorative Painters, is an accredited Priscilla Hauser teacher, and is a past representative of the Deco Art Helping Artist program.
She works mainly in acrylics, watercolors, and alcohol ink, but also likes to experiment with mixed media. Judy takes commissions and enjoys painting birds, animals, and flowers as well as whimsical decorative art on unusual surfaces. Her local murals can be seen at Hope Lutheran Church, Gilmer Community Food Pantry, and Tony’s Country Corner. She has designed liturgical artwork for banners for several out of state and Georgia churches.
Plus, she was the designer of the 2 stained glass windows at Hope Lutheran Church.
Her original Christmas ornaments have been hung on the White House Christmas trees during the Clinton and Bush administrations as well as the Blair House and Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. She has been published in “Tole World” magazine and has received various awards for her artwork over the years – the most recent being the “People’s Choice” award for her painting of squirrels harvesting grapes in the 2022 Gilmer Arts Juried Art Show.
