Barbara Edwards Artist Bio:
Currently residing in Jasper, Georgia, Barbara has been painting for over 35 years. Versatile in many media including pastels, acrylics, and oils, the artist’s favorite is watercolor for its qualities of luminosity and transparency. Her paintings encompass a wide range of subject matter, and she employs both traditional and experimental techniques. Some subjects are rendered realistically with particular attention given to composition and the play of light and pattern. Experimental pieces are often more abstract, allowing the paint to take on a life of its own. The final work is a marriage of chance and skill that upon completion may end up with just a few vestiges of its beginnings. She often pours paint, or applies it with tools such as rollers, spatulas and various unconventional tools. she strives to show the essence of a subject. while adding emotional and aesthetic content.
She believes that when an artist creates a work of art and someone observes it, they are also looking at a self-portrait of the artist, as nothing can come out of the artist that is not within the artist. You are seeing what the artist is feeling as well as what he or she is seeing and also the depth of their sensibilities.
