Travelers Journal class suitable for kids or adults. Children, ages 8-14, should be accompanied by an adult and need to be able to follow directions:
- cut with a utility knife/box-cutter safely
- Use a hammer/mallet for stamps and punches
- Use leather dye
What Students will learn:
- Students will have the option to dye their project. There will be disposable gloves. Students should wear “art” clothes that won’t be ruined if they get a drip or splash of dye on them.
- Students will learn to create their own reusable template for a no-sew traveler’s notebook. They’ll use their template to mark, cut, and punch veg-tan leather.
- Students will learn to properly case veg-tan leather for stamping. The instructor will provide a variety of stamps (letters and numbers, textures, borders, and motifs) as well as practice leather for students to design their own personalization for their journal.
- Students will learn to bevel and burnish leather edges for a finished look and will have the option to dye their journal or leav
e it natural with a wax finish.
Each student will leave with a completed personalized 5×7” elastic bound refillable notebook of their own design and their template for use on future projects.
