About Sulaine
Sulaine Simes is a North Georgia artist and teacher. She uses oils and acrylics when painting per portraits and the natural beauty of flowers and landscapes. From and early age, Sulaine’s parents (also artists) encouraged her and her sisters to draw and paint at home and in private art classes. After attending Auburn University, Sulaine began a career in elementary education. As time allowed she pursued her love of painting through various drawing and painting workshops.
Between 1989 and 1990, Sulaine attended portrait drawing classes and watercolor workshops at the University or West Georgia. While lining in California, 1994-2005, Sulaine completed a course in Principles of Color at Santa Rosa Junior College. At the Danville Cultural Arts Alliance, Sulaine studied under the guidance of Charles H. White, the art of landscape oil painting. In 2008 she completed requirements for Georgia’s Art Education Certification. She taught art education in Pickens County between 2008-2015. She has also taught classes at the Creative and Performing Arts Academy and private art classes from her home studio, and through the Sharptop Arts Association.
Now she is bringing her talents to Gilmer Arts to start regular classes on Fridays at the Gallery.
