Annual Stained Glass Christmas Ornament Workshop

Warren will be bringing back his popular Christmas Ornament Workshop on November 7th at the Gallery.

Three (3) people will be let into the workshop each half hour. You will be able to make two ornaments in approximately 2.5 hours. Trained and capable volunteers will assist Warren in teaching you the basics of Stained Glass ornament making. You will move from station to station and be assisted at each station in creating your own ornament for your tree or to use as a gift.

The workshop is designed to provide the experience of creating two stained glass ornaments by working through 6 stations (listed below) over a three hour period. To allow for the most enjoyable experience for the most people, 3 slots will be available every 30 minutes starting at 10 AM with the last group starting at 2:30 PM.  A total of 30 slots are available.

Participants must be 6 years of age or older.  Participants ages 6 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

The stations are:

•                         Picking two patterns from the available selection and selecting the glass for the projects.
•                         Cutting out the patterns and gluing on the glass
•                         Cutting the glass for each project.
•                         Grinding the glass to fit the pattern
•                         Applying copper foil to the glass
•                         Soldering the foiled glass pieces to create the ornament

The cost of this workshop is $30.  $5 pays for the materials.  $25 goes to Gilmer Arts.  Volunteers will be guiding you through the process.

The goal is to allow the experience of creating a stained glass object in a supervised friendly environment.
