Acrylics Class: Acrylics in Practice, Color Value Study
31 January 2025– Acrylics in Practice: Color Value Study
– Instructor: Becca Shuler
– Beginners to advanced
– Friday, January 31, 2025 | 3-hour session (1-4pm)
Acrylics in Practice is one way for you to add to your artistic skill for painting landscapes. We can do florals and abstracts, but more often we paint the landscape. We live in such beautiful surroundings which inspire me to create works of art always including nature: trees, forests, mountains, lakes or rivers, etc.
This session is to learn more about color values by painting a mountain landscape with body of water reflections. The event image is our starting point. Once we achieve the variations in our color of choice, we can then add as much or as little detail as we wish using our tool of choice: brushes or palette knives or credit cards or Q-Tip’s, etc. (Becca provides inspiration by using photos she gathers on her own or from internet resources. Typically, they represent our area, aka: Blue Ridge Mountains.)

—Susan Jane King of SueBee Arts on Facebook
“Well, after taking some of Becca’s barn quilt classes and some beginner painting classes painting barns, I can say for sure that Becca 100% deserves the status of Super Host on Facebook. She has always been accommodating to those who want to be in her class, she has posted clear instructions, and always does it with a very kind heart. I am grateful I found her.”
—Laura Ellard
“I have learned so much from Becca. I am so happy I was introduced to her classes through the Gilmer Arts Center. She always comes prepared with a lesson plan and notes that I can use to reinforce concepts and skills while painting on my own. She is a capable teacher, and I appreciate how she has accommodated my temporary need for a private teacher while my husband recovers from a recent health situation. Art is so therapeutic.”
