The Gilmer County Literary Anthology
Gilmer Arts invites local and regional poets and short-story writers to submit original work for Where the Mountains Speak, Volume Two, a literary anthology celebrating the voices, landscapes, history, and spirit of Gilmer County and the surrounding Appalachian region through literary expression and storytelling.
This collection continues Gilmer Arts’ mission to highlight the creative voices of North Georgia and preserve the stories that rise from our mountains.

Writers are encouraged to explore stories, memories, people, places, and experiences connected to the North Georgia mountains and Appalachian culture. All genres are welcome.
Please note that submissions must not include confrontational, political, or religious content, or explicit adult material.
Submission Guidelines
Short Fiction
Maximum 2,500 words
Poetry
Maximum 40 lines
Eligibility
Submissions are open to writers who:
• Live in North Georgia, or
• Have strong personal, cultural, or historical ties to the region.
Manuscript Requirements
• File type: Word (.doc or .docx)
• Font: 12-point Times New Roman
• Double-spaced
• 1-inch margins on all sides
• Include page numbers
• Do not include your name in the manuscript (blind review process)
Selection Process
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of published authors and editors. Approximately 25 poems and short storieswill be selected for publication.
Authors retain full copyright of their work. Selected authors grant Gilmer Arts exclusive publication rights for six months following publication.
