6-Week Learning to Draw Course with Darren Wesley aka The Viking

This class was to have started on Jan. 11th, but Darren had the idea that if he runs two classes concurrently, on Thursday evenings (Jan. 28th 5-7pm) and on Saturday mornings (Jan. 30th 10am-12pm) we can be convenient for those who Monday evening wasn’t working for. The Viking is looking for people who say “I can’t draw a straight line.” Anyone can draw using the grid method. We saw amazing results from the October class. Darren, aka the Viking, is willing to take on the challenge of anyone who thinks they cannot draw. With this set of classes you will learn a process and by the 6th class will have the confidence to draw anything!

  • Week 1-introduction to grid method.
  • Week-2 and 3- you will choose your own photo subject and learn the steps to draw it.
  • Week-4 thru 6- complete your drawing and move into learning  shading to take that drawing to the next level.

Each set of classes is limited to 12 students to allow for personal attention and safe distancing. Class is $200. + $20 supply fee for the entire six weeks. Members receive a 10% discount.

The Viking is looking for people who say, “I can’t draw a straight line.” Darren is ready to take the challenge to help you go from there to leaving with a picture of a beautiful veil-tail goldfish. This intro class is a lead-in to his 6 week series, starting in October to help you reach a place where you can replicate anything you want to.

Meet Darren Wesley

Darren Wesley has had a fondness for art since childhood, doodling cartoons and drawing things around him. As an adult, he set aside his talent, allowing life to take him entirely away from his hobby.

He rediscovered his hobby, along with the necessary skills to produce photorealistic images, from portraits to animals and even realistic water drops! He believes that, while talent plays a role in developing his projects, much of the ability comes from a skill that can be taught!

Darren is the owner of Viking Outdoor, a company that provides outdoor lighting and outdoor sound systems to the mountain community, allowing his artistic abilities to flow into his daily life. He is also a writer and a student of philosophy, a member of The Optimist Club, involved in the Boys and Girls Club, and currently serves on the board for the High Country Builders Association, and a Desert Storm veteran.
