SUMMARY:Acrylics Painting: Reflective Light 6/12 or 19
DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Becca Shuler\nWhere: Gilmer Arts Classroom\nTwo dates: Friday\, June 12 or 19\, 1-4pm \nIn Becca’s classes you get a choice for inspiration images to reference as you work. Or you can bring your own reference photo. Since the classes are kept small\, you’ll receive one-on-one attention in class. There are two dates on the June calendar to explore painting reflective light. You may take one or both classes. It’s your choice. In this class\, the focus will be more on mixing custom color. Painting reflective light in the landscape is sometimes called atmospheric painting. Lesson plan to include:\n• Class demo for basic process steps.\n• How to prepare the surface before starting.\n• Glazing liquid practice for painting ambient light into the scene.\n• How to soften edges with brush strokes.\n• Help with custom mixing colors for your palette. \nStudents will complete a painting during this three-hour class. Project size: 11×14. \nAcrylic Painting Sessions with Becca are for Beginners to Advanced students who want to expand their ability. Acrylic paints are recommended; lesson plan revolves around how to best use acrylics to achieve reflective light resulting in an atmospheric painting style. $90 holds your seat; space is limited to six. Call or text Becca with questions\, 706-889-1857. If you need supplies\, let Becca know after you register with payment\, so she can put together a kit or make suggestions. Supply list offered by request. If you require a kit\, a fee to cover materials will be collected on day of class: $50.

SUMMARY:Mike Kinnebrew Band
DESCRIPTION:CS Lewis once remarked that “we read to know we are not alone\,” and countless people have traveled many miles across several decades to listen to Mike Kinnebrew’s music for the same reason. He began writing songs as a teenager because he was “mesmerized by the way a song could reach out and grab you by the heart—or the throat\,” and his love for language burns through each of his songs\, whether he’s writing about everyday affairs like taking his kids to school and vacationing at the beach\, or more vulnerable subjects like his struggles with anxiety and alcohol. His single\, “What’s Left of Me\,” broaches the latter with a simple\, well-crafted melody and songs like “Where the Big Waves Are” and “Wrestle the Sea” tackle the former. He has a knack for finding the remarkable in the ordinary\, following in the South’s long lineage of great folk artist\, and draws from cross-genre influences like Tom Petty\, Gabe Dixon\, and Darrell Scott. Whether he’s solo or flanked by a full band\, Mike has mastered the art of making an audience feel a full range of emotions with a guitar in his hand. \n

SUMMARY:Surrender Hill and Friends Thanksgiving Weekend Show
DESCRIPTION:“…one of today’s very best Americana duos… Their last album\, the double set Just Another Honky Tonk in a Quiet Western Town\, was one of the finest country albums of the decade so far and nothing here falls short of that benchmark… rock and soul elements alongside the familiar country and western and honky tonk sounds…yet another outstanding album.” “It wasn’t intentional\, but some of the songs called for an edgier\, at times\, darker perspective\,” says Robin Dean Salmon\, who previously spent several years in a rock band signed to a major label and has also produced acts making everything from gospel to metal music. “We ended up exploring a rock & roll edge\, balanced equally with tender\, Southwestern soul-feeling landscapes.”
