This class is for those who want easy guidelines to improve or learn how to paint a landscape in person or from a reference photo. You will find that even non-artists can learn to paint landscapes with step-by-step instructions. Use your own photos or the instructor's reference photos as a resource. Maria Sarmiento is a passionate, versatile, and highly motivated artist and educator with extensive experience teaching sculpture in Fine Arts and Art Foundations in design universities. A native of Colombia and resident of Atlanta Georgia.
Recognized as a passionate educator, lifelong advocate of continued learning and advancement, and prolific, creative artist. Maria’s past teaching assignments include Kennesaw State University, Georgia State University, The Art Institute of Atlanta, Metro Academic Studies, and Sarmiento Studio LLC.
Maria has served as a juror and curator for exhibitions and as panelist for various universities and art centers. She is an engaging speaker and presenter, adept at presenting work in a poised and confident manner. She enjoys the synergy of working as a team. She is motivated by challenging goals, and balance diplomatic and direct approaches when expectations aren’t met. Think the best way to achieve challenging goals is to be mutually supportive and helpful.
Maria received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia and her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Universidad de Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Bogota, Colombia. She is a member of the International Sculpture Center (ISC) and leadership appointments include Board of Directors and Chair of the Recognition Committee and social media for Mid-South Sculpture Alliance (MSA) since 2015.
