Colleen began formal art education in the early 70s and is a former student of The School of the Art Institute, Chicago. She furthered her education with courses at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio and at the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, before locating to the North Georgia mountains in 1989. In this region Colleen has also engaged in creative course work at the John C. Campbell Folk School, Brasstown, NC, and at the Blairsville campus of North Georgia Technical College.
Colleen is a practicing professional artist with extensive experience in both private and corporate commission work. One of her original artworks graces the corridors of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, as well as in the Hyatt Roissy at the Charles de Gaul International Airport, Paris, France. She has won several awards and honors for her work.
Colleen’s exhibition at Gilmer Arts Gallery will open May 7th with a reception 5-7p. The artist will speak to those attending about her work at the reception and again at the GFA monthly meeting in May.
