Gilmer Fine Artist Meeting
August 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
An event every month that begins at 10:00am on day Third of the month, repeating until December 31, 2018
The July meeting was enjoyable as Micah Goguen led us in mixed media exercises with pastes & inks. Look for him to share this in upcoming classes – techniques which can be included with other mediums to make your art unique. A big shout out to Micah for sharing not only his knowledge but also the supplies with which to create.
Looking forward to our Aug 20 meeting, Debbi Friend – our local fiber artist – will be presenting our program on dying fabrics. This technique, too, can be incorporated with other mediums so don’t miss it!
Warren Acree will supply refreshments.
Our one year anniversary is approaching as the first planning meeting was August 2017 with four members present. During the year, we’ve had a steady attendance for the meetings & someone new almost each time. We’ve hosted two painting workshops with guest Atlanta artists, Kathy Rennell Forbes & Ed Cahill & had numerous informative & hands on programs hosted by our own talented members. Several of the programs have turned into classes for these member artists. This is an awesome start to our GFA group! We look forward to growing our membership & having more hands on input from everyone.
If you’re interested in helping plan a “Resident Artist Day” here in Ellijay sometime soon, we’ll have our first planning meeting Aug, 20 after the GFA meeting. Bring a snack lunch & your ideas & we’ll begin brainstorming on the direction to go with this – plan to stay an hour or so.
Be sure to check out the Member Art Show in the Gallery & thank you to all who are participating. Remember to pick up your work Aug. 31 from 10 am – 5pm.
