Draft of the Artist in Residence Program
Announcing the beginning of the “Artist in Residence” program sponsored by the Gilmer Fine Artist group. A program to allow local artist to showcase their work in a studio environment by recreating their studio at Gilmer Arts and to allow for a demonstration of their talents while working on original art. The program is open to all forms of visual arts for which the studio environment can be easily setup at Gilmer Arts. Artist participating in the program are encouraged to display their completed work and hopefully generate some sales. A maximum of two artist per weekend.
This is to be an open environment allowing the artist to interact with the public: allowing the public to ask question to the artist, for the artist to receive feedback, and for Gilmer Arts to find out what the public is interested in seeing.
The first weekend for this event will be during Apple Festival this year and hopefully run on a continuing bases. During Apple Festival, the “Artist in Residence” program will run for both weekends. For other months, it will ge the 3rd weekend of the month.
Local artist who are members of Gilmer Arts are requested to volunteer to become a part of the program by calling Gilmer Arts.
