Elizabeth Bame

Elizabeth Bame graduated from Andrews University, in Berrien Springs, MI with an Associate Degree in Commercial Art in 1985, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1989. Her career in graphic design brought her to Atlanta, GA in 1990, when she accepted the position of Art Director for a publishing company, where she is still employed. A few years after moving to Atlanta, Elizabeth began her studies with nationally award-winning artist Chris DiDomizio at DiDomizio Old World Art Studio, taking classes from him for over eight years. She has also taken workshops from Marc Hanson and the portrait artist Michael Del Priore. This additional education, instruction and experience continued to enhance her artistic skills. She has been in numerous juried shows, won many awards for her landscapes and portraits. In 2003, she was also selected for the Red Cinder Artist-in-Residence program in Hawaii. Elizabeth taught several portrait painting classes at the Sandy Springs Art School. She currently has four of her paintings hanging in the office of Speaker of the House, David Ralston at the Georgia State Capitol. Elizabeth mostly works in her studio using reference photos, but whenever the opportunity arises, she loves to paint plein air. And each year she participates in the Gilmer Arts plein air painting event "Arts in the Mountains", as well as the Blue Ridge plein air paint out. Over four years ago, she and her husband were able to fulfill their dream of moving to the mountains of Ellijay, GA. The Mountains and surrounding countryside have provided new inspirations, resources, and opportunities to paint from life outside.
