Acrylics Building Skill by painting scenes with reflections giving practice for How to Create Contrast and interest in your work. Light, shadows, and reflections give depth. Understanding how to paint a scene with reflection and proper depth.
Paint a 16 x 20 scene, students' choice of subject: street scene, streambed, still life glass bottles with single flower stem.
- Discuss what water does to color, values and tone.
- Practice painting students' choice of scene. 3 projects - On paper, on canvas, and on wood.
- Details with brushes - which brush does what stroke?
Each Student will need to bring the following items to class each week:
One sketch pad (Multi-media/Watercolor 65lb paper)
One pencil
One small palette knife for mixing paints
Small container for water to rinse brushes & paper towels
Palette paper pad (to mix paints on and toss after use)
At least 5 Acrylic paint brushes from the following list of sizes/types:
Small Flat or #2 Bright #4 Bright 1/2" Bright #6 Bright
large Round #8 Bright Small Round Large Rigger
Small Rigger
Heavy Body Acrylic paints (Golden or Liquitex are good brands readily
Cadmium Orange Cadmium Red Cadmium Yellow Medium
Dioxazine Purple Titanium White Ultramarine Blue
Liquitex Brand, Glossy Gel Medium, not the Heavy Gel.
