Instructor: Lisa Fraker
Pricing: $60 non-member / $54 member

Class Level: Beginner/Intermediate
4 person minimum/10 person maximum

This is an introduction to gouache and how it can be used in various methods. These methods include combining it with transparent watercolor and monotype. Gouache is commonly used with transparent watercolor as a white highlight. In this class you will explore the full spectrum of color by mixing primaries and applying opaque layers of color to your subjects. Monotype is a printmaking method that creates a single print. It is made by painting your image on a plate and transferring the image like a stamp to watercolor paper. The image can then be reworked to add layers of interesting texture and depth.

Intended projects and techniques:
Using your own subject matter students will create 1 small painting and 1 print in gouache. You will learn monotype and how to combine transparent watercolor techniques with gouache. You will also learn how to mix your own colors from a primary set listed in the supplies.

A supply list will be posted shortly
